VEX THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES NEW HOLIDAY SHOW: "TWIST-A-CAROL II: MOBY-NICK"
Elgin, IL. Vex Theatre Company announces their all-new holiday show,
"Twist-a-Carol II: Moby-Nick." The show runs one weekend only, December 2-4,
2011, at the Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division Street in Elgin, IL. Showtimes are
Friday and Saturday at 7:30p.m. and Sunday at 3:00pm. Tickets are $10. For
information, visit www.vextheatre.org.
Songs, Skits, and the Search for St. Nick!
"Twist-a-Carol II" consists of several short, quirky plays about the holidays,
interspersed with live music. The centerpiece of this year's show is
"Moby-Nick," an original Vex performance piece based on the classic novel
Moby-Dick. Instead of searching for the elusive whale, this Ahab is searching
for the equally elusive St. Nick.
"Our show's theme this year is obsession," says Rich Geiger, Artistic Director
of Vex Theatre Company, "Moby-Nick allows us to explore this theme to the
fullest. The quest for the perfect holiday can be as perilous as Ahab's quest
for the the great white whale. Our whale happens to wear a red suit and drive a
sleigh."
A New Holiday Tradition
This is the second annual installment of Vex's holiday spectacular
"Twist-a-Carol" containing a completely new line-up of entertainment from last
year's show, which featured the original Vex piece "Turn of the Scrooge." In
addition to "Moby-Nick," several new twisted holiday plays written by Vex
company members will be included, as well as holiday songs.
For the second year in a row, local charity Elgin Community Crisis Center will
receive 10% of ticket sales from this event. The Center will also be raising
funds through concession sales during the event.
